Bob’s Discount Furniture unveiled its new Boston Post Road store Friday, and the grand opening comes as town officials continue working to fill retail vacancies along the busy commercial corridor.
Bob’s new location in the Orange Meadows Shopping Center at 550 Boston Post Road is a short distance from its former home at 515 Boston Post Road, where it had operated since 1995.
“We maybe only moved a stone’s throw, but as you can see, what we’ve done is not only affirm our commitment to the Orange, Connecticut community, but we’ve also launched our new store design,” Bill Barton, president and CEO of the Manchester-based furniture retailer, said before Friday’s ribbon-cutting. “We’re investing in the future of our people, in the future of our stores and our design, and as well as our future commitment to these communities that actually launched Bob’s and makes Bob’s what it is today.”
Annemarie Sliby, executive director of the Orange Economic Development Corp., said Friday that US Furniture will be moving from its current spot at 519 Boston Post Road in Orange to the old Bob’s location. Sliby also said that Sayori, a Japanese restaurant, will occupy the former Prime 16 at 464 Boston Post Road. The restaurant closed at the end of 2022 after declining to renew its lease.
